Visitors account for 10,000 new trees planted simply by visiting Accountex show, as Diversified Communications shows sustainable event leadership with Carma

Diversified Communications’ events attract tens of thousands of visitors to venues each year. This event season they worked with Carma to offset carbon impacts at not just one, but two shows

Diversified Communications runs some of the best tradeshows and conferences in the UK, including Accountex, a landmark show on the calendar of accountants and financial leaders.

This year, visitors had a huge surprise – because they were greeted by two trees at the entrance. These characters were helping highlight that Carma was sponsoring the show this year.

The conference team wanted to attract 9000 visitors to ExCel London this May – and committed to plant one tree for every visitor. They excelled themselves! (Sorry, we couldn’t resist that one) and more than 10250 visitors arrived over the two-day event.

Diversified were truly setting a standard, in a sector that has become more and more interested in sustainable event management. It went further than reducing waste and promoting reuse and recycling – giving every visitor a little power to ‘give back’ and offset their travel impact.

“We’re always looking for new ways to become greener, and what better way than planting trees for every attendee that visits the show? Partnering with Carma allows us to give back and reduce our impact on the planet” said Rachel Gregory, Event Manager for the Accountex event portfolio.

Diversified dug into the campaign, promoting Carma’s involvement on badges, communication emails, and literature – and even organised plantable wildflower seed cards with the Carma logo.

Portfolio Director, Caroline Hobden, shared her satisfaction with the accomplishment in our recent case study, saying “Carma really helped us enforce our sustainability goals at the show, and was a great resource to us, our visitors, and exhibitors.”

It was so successful that Diversified ran a similar campaign for the Natural and Organic Products show – which meant a further 10,000 trees can be planted by Carma, in association with Eden Reforestation Projects.

Read the case study for the full story of how Diversified is not only leading the way in sustainable event thinking but was responsible for 20,000 trees to be planted overall – which will remove a massive 6000 tonnes of carbon dioxide during their lifetime.
